We read the book The Sun Our Nearest Star by Franklyn M. Branley, Then we made paper plate suns and wrote facts about the sun. This book is a great book for teaching little ones about the sun because it does not have too much text. It also gives a great size comparison for the sun and the earth using a pea and a beach ball.
We painted suns by simulating the swirling gases of the sun. Then we wrote 3 important facts about the sun.
A Little more with day and night...
Next week we are using this book when we learn about the stars. We are also going to write narratives to go with the shooting stars we made.
