CAFE Menu for Emergent Readers

As I introduced the strategies from the CAFE menu, we added them to our CAFE board. You will have to refer to the board repeatedly as you use the strategies in order to get your students to use it as a visual reminder. I introduced the strategies based on my curriculum rather than using the order on the menu. The emergent CAFE menu can be found on the CAFE web site.

Thank you so much for sharing with us. If I teach Kindergarten next year, I'll definitely be using these! It looks like your kids are learning so much.

Thank you so much! I was little nervous about implementing Daily 5 & CAFE in my Senior Kindergarten classroom coming September. Your blog gave me the clarity and the confidence and now I can go ahead with the idea.

Thanks a ton for the freebie too!

I just want to clarify. The cafe board pieces, even the strategy cards that are posted with the pictures next to them are available through the CAFE website once I purchase a subscription to the site?

Thank you!

Colene,

If you join the CAFE site you will get all kinds of videos, articles, and information for CAFE. The signs and pictures on my board are things I made based on the CAFE emergent menu. The emergent menu is on the CAFE site, but the signs I made are not.

Hi, I wanted to add a few more reading strategies to my emergent cafe. Where can I find the two borders you use?

Thank you, Brittany

I made those borders in Word. I went to borders and shading. Then I chose the thickest border width. After that I went to dashes and chose the dash pattern I wanted. Let me know if this doesn't make sense and I will try to be more specific.
