A Pirate's Life for Me...

Next week I begin the process of moving all of my things from one school to another. Since I found out I was going back into the classroom on the last day of school I have not stopped thinking about my classroom,  setting it up, the new kiddos coming to me, and everything I have to do to get ready for them.

Since I LOVE the pirates that hang over my tables and my fun ocean color animals I wanted to stick with the pirate/ocean theme.

My good friend Liz gave me her watermelon claw foot tub to use as a reading space for the Daily Five.

Then my creative friend Amanda took the tub and turned it into a pirate ship!! Her dad is making a sail to go on it now. The kids are going to LOVE reading in this!!

Stay tuned to see it with the sail and in my classroom. I can't wait to move into my new classroom next week and get started setting it up. I will post pictures as soon as it is ready!

Oh my goodness. I am super jealous you have that tub. I am doing a pirate theme and would love that. I may just be finding someone with a tub they want to give...I mean donate to my classroom. Love it.

Get out of town!! I have a pirate theme & I LOVE it!! What I wouldn't do to have someone make me something like that. I'm going to have to see if I can track down some artsy friends that can do something like this! :)

That is so cool! I had a reading tub in my classroom years ago, but after moving classrooms/schools so many times, I got rid of it. It was not the best thing to have to move.

Oh April,
Although Amanda did her usual awesome work on the pirate ship I did have to shed a little tear to see that watermelon go away.

My good friend free handed my pirates. She just made them up. I didn't find them anywhere.

I would love to get in touch with the painter of the pirate ship tub! I have a tub and pirate theme! I would love to turn my tub into a ship!! I need to know what type (oil based, acrylic, etc.)of paint she used to paint the tub. I would hate to put in all the work for it to scratch or chip off. Also, how is the inside finished? Thanks for any advice/help you may share!

Email me and I will give you her email address. I can tell you the inside is sealed with something and is just a solid color. The only chipping that has occurred on the outside in two years with it is a little bit around the rim. It has happened from things like chairs or something hitting it.
