I taught full-day kindergarten for 14 years and have spent the last 2 years as a kindergarten and first grade strategist working all over my district. I am excited to say that this school year I will be back in my own kindergarten classroom!! While I loved working with kinder and first grade teachers and their students, I missed having a class of my own.
I graduated from Dallas Baptist University in 2008 with a masters in curriculum and instruction. I am currently working on my doctorate in early childhood studies with a minor in curriculum and instruction at the University of North Texas. I hope to one day teach at the university level. I love what I do and want to pass on all that I have learned over the years to fellow teachers and students!
This is the most ridiculous comment I've ever left but...I had to tell you that I stumbled across your blog from another (I love when that happens!) and I'm now sitting here in tears.
Long story short, I'll be leaving Kindergarten this year (after being there even longer than you have) and I'll be looping with my babies to 1st grade. I am NOT happy about this, but I'll save my complaining for my own blog! ;-)
Reading through your posts really made me emotional. I feel like I'm no longer a part of this very exclusive club. It just makes me so very sad. :( I just may have to live vicariously through your blog this year...
ChiTown Girl... I have to share with you that I have been shedding my own tears lately. I was just offered a job in my district to work with kinder and first grade teachers in my district who need some help making the programs stronger. I am so excited because I love sharing ideas with teachers and working with them. I also feel like I have so much to share to help make their programs better, but...I love what I do and I am very sad about walking away from my classroom. They have actually asked me to set up a model classroom for teachers to come and look at so I am glad I actually get to keep a classroom going. I will also be modeling lessons so I am looking forward to trying out new ideas with different groups of kids. I would love for you to live vicariously through my blog!! LOL!! Please feel free to share your ideas as well. I will be looking for some first grade ideas now too!!
I am SO excited to find your blog!! I am an elementary senior at Oklahoma State but I am from Denton, Tx. My boyfriend goes to DBU! Such a small world. I want to teach kinder/1st! I am so excited to follow you!! :0) ~ Claire
