Read ABC Kids by Laura Ellen Williams and take photographs to make an ABC Kids class book.
Read the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes and have students compare the number of letters in their name to the number of letters in Chrysanthemum's name. This idea came from one of my teammate's.
Read a version of Whole Stole the Cookies From the Cookie Jar. Play a game with students to help them learn each other's names. Use a cookie jar and paper cookies with the student's names on them. Chant who stole the cookies from the cookie jar and have students draw a cookie from the jar and match the name on the cookie to the student it belongs too. Then make a class book and eat real cookies.
Read Arthur's Eyes by Marc Brown and have students make a graph showing what color of eyes the have.

We learn Dr. Jean's song "Kiss Your Brain" and then we make the "Kiss Your Brain" Class Book.
Read The Kissing Hand and make a class book.
